La Vie Dansante Wines

2013 Audition

Audition is a Northern-Rhone style blend of 65% Roussanne and 35% Marsanne.

This wine highlights the brightness and acidity typical of a cooler climate white while still retaining the distinctive floral aroma typical of the Roussanne grape. Roussanne takes its name from “roux”, the French word for “russet”, an apt description for grape’s reddish-gold skins at harvest. Often referred to as “The Princess”, Roussanne is a shy and erratic producer and is notoriously difficult to grow. Where Roussanne provides all of the flash, Marsanne provides all of the substance. Known for displaying the mineral flavors of the soil in which it’s grown, Marsanne adds backbone and body to the wines in which its blended. Audition’s crisp acidity makes it a perfect pairing for fish and pasta, especially those in a light cream or beurre blanc sauce
