Picpoul is a fascinating grape that traditionally is used for blending with other whites in Chateauneuf de Pape. Our version is crisp and clean with bold preserved lemon and hints of honeydew melon.
Here in Santa Clara Valley we have less than one acre planted to this unique varietal so it’s rare to find it bottled as a single varietal. 2016, with it’s exceptionally wet spring, was a bountiful year and we were able to bottle just over 20 cases for our wine club. We think you’ll find this is the perfect wine to pair with ocean flavors such as oysters, mussels and clams. It’s bright acidity cuts through sauces and it’s minerality with a hint of salinity blends with the taste of the sea.
