Viognier is one of our favorite Rhone grapes. Lighter in texture and nose, you can experience the famed “floral” character of Rhone whites without the wine being too big or heavy.
It’s fair to say I was influenced early in my wine life by the whites from Tablas Creek Winery in Paso Robles, especially their “Esprit de Tablas Blanc”, and this is my homage to that wine.
54% Grenache Blanc – 34% Roussanne – 12% Picpoul Blanc An “Aubade” is a love song that a gentleman sings to his lover in the morning, promising to return that evening.
This Roussanne is golden in the glass with an aroma of ripe tropical fruit, honeycomb, spices and baked apple. It’s medium to full bodied with a round middle and a hint of floral notes on the finish.
Picpoul is a fascinating grape that traditionally is used for blending with other whites in Chateauneuf de Pape. Our version is crisp and clean with bold preserved lemon and hints of honeydew melon.
